Seafire Ring Gold

I began creating the “Seafire-Jewelry” around 1995. I had experienced seafire (a phytoplankton fluorescent reaction) in the oceans, while sailing or swimming in the summer nights. I was so taken by the amazing view and feeling when cold water would throw flashing cascades over suntanned skin, leaving sparkeling embers scattered all over.

I tried to translate the sensation: the liquid, amorphous water, seaweed, sparkeling embers. In the beginning, just diamonds scattered over a golden beam, or thread around the finger. But these days, I sneak in coloured gems in all shapes, cuts and shades, still overwhelmed, inspired and enchanted by the oceans and their sea-creatures.
